As summer hits, we become lazier than normal in our regular activities. Though it is time for a vacation to kids and adults, it may bring along various health problems like dehydration, viral fever, stomach infection, heat stroke, etc. It is imperative to make sure you are eating the right foods and exercising the right way to fitness and health. Making a few changes in daily activities will help you to deal with the summer season:
Keep yourself hydrated:
Do you know? Our muscles need as much water as proteins? Dehydration may cause muscle weakening, leading to lethargy or inactivity. Make sure you gulp down 8-10 glasses of water and ensure a well-hydrated body. Avoid drinking extremely chilled water as it may take a toll on your digestion.
Include seasonal fruits and vegetables:
Though we get to eat many fruits and vegetables all year round, consuming seasonal fruits have its own benefits. Include fruits like berries, mangoes, chickoo, grapes, oranges, plums, carrots as a snack or during breakfast. Loaded with antioxidants, vit. C, vit. A and fibre will improve skin texture, frizzy hair and digestion.
Avoid heavy meals:
As digestion may get slower during this season. Including lighter meals especially at night is advisable rather than heavy ones.
Include more cooling foods:
Load up on cooling foods like mint, cucumber, watermelon, muskmelon, oranges if drinking water is just difficult.
Involve yourself in any one outdoor activity:
Including any one outdoor activity like swimming, cycling or exploring new places or gardening for that matter will keep you energized.
Maintain good hygiene:
Make sure whatever you eat or drink on is clean and hygienic. You are prone to get bacterial infections from the utensils in restaurants and even at home. Always ensure they are clean and always wash your hands before eating.
