Raw Mango Rice

About the Recipe

This tangy raw mango recipe is all time hit during summers. Hardly takes time to make, consumes very less oil and is a good carbohydrate-protein combination.


  • 1/2 raw mangoes , peeled and grated

  • 2 cups cooked rice

  • 4 to 5 curry leaves

  • 2 tbsp chana dal

  • 1 tbsp urad dal

  • 2 tbsp grated coconut

  • 2 chopped green chillies

  • 1 tbsp peanuts

  • 2 tbsp oil

  • 1 tsp mustard seeds

  • a pinch turmeric powder (haldi)

  • salt to taste


Heat the oil in a pan and add the mustard seeds. When the seeds crackle, add  green chilli, curry leaves, chana dal and urad dal and saute till the dal turns golden red in colour. Add peanuts and saute for few minutes. Add grated raw mango, turmeric, salt and cook for few minutes. Now add grated coconut and saute for few minutes. Add cooked rice, mix well and serve hot.
